Easy Crockpot Steak and Potatoes

This easy Crockpot Steak and Potatoes creates an ultra tender and juicy steak in a rich brown gravy with potatoes, onion, and garlic! With just a few minutes of prep and a day of slow cooking, dinner practically makes itself.

Ingredients

  • 2-3 pound top sirloin boneless steak
  • 1 medium yellow onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup beef stock, or broth
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 2 russet potatoes, cut into 2" pieces
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions 

  • In the bottom of the slow cooker, add half of the sliced onions. Lay the steak over the onions, then pour the Worcestershire sauce over the steak.
  • Add the cornstarch to a little of the beef stock, stirring until blended, then slowly stirring in the rest of the stock. Pour mixture over the top of the steak.
  • Add the minced garlic, potatoes, and the rest of the onions. Tucking the potatoes around the steak. Season everything with garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper.
  • Place the lid on the slow cooker. Cook on low for 7 to 8 hours or high 4 to 6 hours. We recommend the low and slower cooking time to ensure the most tender results!
  • When ready to serve, gently stir the gravy in the crockpot to coat the potatoes and steak. Serve from the slow cooker or place the steak on a serving plate with the potatoes and sauce.

Notes

Make-Ahead: Assemble the ingredients in the crockpot liner the night before and refrigerate. In the morning, place it into the crockpot and cook as directed.
Store: Store the cooled leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Reheat: Warm slowly on the stove or microwave in short intervals, stirring to maintain the gravy’s texture. Add a splash of broth, if needed, to thin the gravy.
Freeze: Place the cooled leftovers into freezer-safe containers and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating, for best results.
