Quick Easy Chili Recipe on Stove Top

Need a quick dinner idea that doesn’t skimp on flavor? This quick easy chili recipe is packed with spiced ground beef & hearty beans in a rich tomato base, all made in one-pot in under 30 minutes! Bonus: It somehow tastes even better the next day for leftovers!

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 8 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons chili seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1 27 oz can chili beans (do not drain or rinse)

Optional Toppings:

  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Chopped onions
  • Sour cream
  • Jalapeños
  • Cilantro
  • Avocado

Instructions 

  • In a Dutch oven or large deep sided pot add oil and sauté onion for 2 minutes, add garlic and sauté 2 more minutes.
  • Add ground beef and simmer over medium heat, break up any large pieces of meat (if there is a lot of grease from the meat drain it before going further).
  • Add tomato sauce, chili seasoning, salt and red pepper flakes, continue simmering 20 minutes.
  • Add chili beans, stir and simmer 10 more minutes.
  • Serve warm with all your favorite toppings.

Notes

Storing: Store leftovers in an airtight container, in the refrigerator, for up to 5 days. 
Freezing: Chili can be frozen in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
