Instructions

  • Optional: Set the hamburger patties on the counter 20 minutes before cooking. This helps the meat to stay tender and juicy. Cold meat seizes up in the pan and does not cook as evenly.
  • Coat the patties on both sides with steak seasoning. Spray a large skillet with non-stick cooking spray or add a teaspoon of oil in the bottom of the skillet.
  • Heat the skillet to medium to medium-high heat and add the hamburger patties. Cook for about 5 minutes on each side, until cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set on a plate. Cover with a lid or foil to keep warm. If there's a lot of grease, use a spoon to skim up all but 2 tablespoons of grease.
  • Add the onion to the hot grease, stirring occasionally, cooking for about 3 to 4 minutes until they soften. Add the sliced potatoes and continue to cook for 10 to 12 minutes more, until the potato slices are fork tender.
  • Add the flour and stir to combine, cooking the flour for 1 minute. Slowly pour the beef stock and Worcestershire sauce into the hot skillet, carefully stirring and simmering until the gravy begins to thicken.
  • Add the hamburger patties back to the skillet and let simmer for 5 minutes more until good and hot. Serve immediately.
